The game consists of two stages: the strategy stage and the action stage. There are two opposing armies: the Zakuto Army and the Gundam Army.

There are two modes: turn-based and real-time. In turn-based mode, you can move a set number of units, while in real-time mode, you can move your units freely. Therefore, it is possible to invade the enemy’s base from the beginning of the game. It is also possible to persuade characters scattered throughout the enemy army and map to join your camp, and vice versa (some characters are prone to betrayal). This makes it possible to add major characters to completely different camps (although major characters are difficult to persuade from other camps).
